Meet the NZSO Alumni committee:

Rex Collins Rex Collins: Chair

Rex joined the NZSO staff as Travel Officer in 1989 and remained in the role until 1992. He chaired the first NZSO Alumni Reunion committee and is current chairperson of the NZSO Alumni committee.


Gil Evans Gilbert Evans: Treasurer

Gil is well-known to many Alumni members. He joined the NZBC Symphony Orchestra trumpet section in 1964, and by the time he retired from the orchestra in 1996 was Co-Principal. Gil chaired the inaugural Alumni committee but opted for the treasurer's role this current term.


Nancy Luther-Jara Nancy Luther-Jara: NZSO Representative

In her role as liaison person between the orchestra and Alumni Association, Nancy is another member of the inaugural committee. She came from New York to join the flute section of NZBC Symphony Orchestra in 1973, as piccolo player - the position which she continues to fill.


Sharyn Evans Sharyn Evans: NZSO Representative

Sharyn was a member of the NZBC Orchestral Trainees from 1969 - 1972 when she joined the 2nd violin section of the NZSO. A position she still holds. She was a member of the founding committee of the NZSOAA and set up the Alumni database.


Michael Cuncannon Michael Cuncannon: Database Co-Ordinator

Another current member of the NZSO, Michael joined the viola section in 1977. In 2004 he replaced Sharyn Evans as the Co-Ordinator of the NZSO Alumni's database. In this position, he is keen to hear from any members who have changed their address!


Judith Morley-Hall Judith Morley-Hall: Committee Member

An enthusiastic amateur violinist herself, Judy was Publicity Officer for the orchestra from 1977 - 1980. Like Rex, she was a member of the initial Alumni Reunion committee and agreed to stay on.


Willie Ryan Willie Ryan: Committee Member

The most recent member to join the committee, and another member of the 1968 - 9 NZBC Orchestral Trainees, Willie joined the horn section of the NZBC Symphony Orchestra during 1969. He retired from the NZSO in 2004.
